Hostaria Romana: Reviews & Ratings
Delicious food. Very cute view looking out into the street. Very busy and lively with business. Also got a on the house rice ball with mozzarella. Everything was so good, especially the mushrooms!!! Highly recommend!
I stopped by Hostaria Romana alone and without a reservation, and after about 10 minutes of waiting, they kindly found me a table, a great start that already showed their hospitality. As soon as I sat down, I was welcomed with a small complimentary supplì and some beans a really nice touch. I began with an excellent hand-cut San Daniele prosciutto, sweet, fragrant, and of top quality. Right after that, while waiting for my first course, they brought me some salami, another thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. Then came the highlight: the classic spaghetti carbonara, simply outstanding perfectly creamy, flavorful, and most importantly al dente, just as it should be. For the main course, I had saltimbocca alla romana with potatoes, the meat was incredibly tender and well balanced in flavor. And of course, I couldn’t miss the carciofo alla giudia, crispy and full of taste. To finish, even though I forgot to take a picture, a fantastic tiramisù. Prices are fair and absolutely in line with the quality of both food and service. A special thanks to Enzo, always friendly and attentive top-notch service! Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Roman cuisine.
Fantastic restaurant We arrived quite late in the evening without a reservation. It was not a problem for the staff and they asked us to wait a few minutes. As I watched the staff working I could tell they are a well oiled machine. Effortless service without any sign of pressure on the team. Absolute professionals. It wasn't long before we were seated at an impeccably laid table. Our cameriere treated us unbelievably well even though it was very late at night, very hot and at then of what must have been a long service. Nothing was a problem for him. Very kind, attentive and patient. What a fantastic first experience of the people of Rome. The food was delicious and not overly priced considering the high level of professionalism from the front of house and kitchen. There are a lot of places to choose from on Google maps in Rome but if you are looking for a quality dining experience at an honest restaurant then this is worth a visit. It was a great memory of my first visit to Rome. Thank you
We found this place by chance and it looked really cozy so we waited around 10 minutes for a table. It was so worth it! Food was delicious, generous portions with fair price. But the highlight of our evening was definitely our server Enzo who made us comfortable and also brought great energy and laughter to our table.
Probably my best meal in Rome. While I didn’t care for the caprese salad it was well made. The pastas were incredible, especially the carbonara, delicious and saucy without overwhelming. The service was great, attentive and informative.and getting a few freebie samples was a nice touch. I would definitely come back to this must try place
I came here with my parents because our host recommended it and i really loved it!!! Everyone is soo kind and the servers were really nice and kind and funny!!!! This is our last night in Rome and we really loved the experience!! The food is the best and everything tastes deliciousss!!! We ordered too much food but we finished since it was so good ahahaha. Definitely coming back if i’m in Rome again!
I dined alone, so I arrived early. I was given a table and the sweetest waiter, Enzo. Enzo helped me decide what to eat, predicted a few of my preferences, and ensured that I had the best experience. The food was delicious and well prepared. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I was full quickly. Enzo was kind enough to box everything up for me. The atmosphere was lovely and charming. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting a lovely meal!
I've had the pleasure of savoring the most authentic Italian cuisine at this restaurant, and the exceptional service from Carmelo (with an impressive 16 years of experience) and Pino was the icing on the cake. From the moment I walked in, they treated me with warmth and even offered me a complimentary taste of their eggplant dish. I was thoroughly impressed and would gladly devour every dish on their menu. Be sure to book a table in advance, as this place fills up quickly. Don’t leave without their tiramisu. Thank you Carmelo even told me get to the 2 of Holly Doors from the restaurant.

What strikes you first is the genuine hospitality—whether it's a last-minute walk-in or a well-planned visit, the staff welcomes each guest with kindness and attentiveness, making you feel instantly at home.
The culinary journey here is truly remarkable. The iconic spaghetti carbonara comes alive with a perfect balance of creamy sauce and al dente pasta, capturing the essence of Roman tradition. The hand-cut San Daniele prosciutto tastes both fragrant and delicate, setting a refined tone early on. Not to be missed is the saltimbocca alla romana—tender veal layered with prosciutto and sage, paired with perfectly roasted potatoes. This dish embodies comfort and sophistication in each bite.
What also captivates the palate are the thoughtful complimentary touches—crispy supplì, savory beans, and even a surprise house rice ball with mozzarella. These small gestures enrich the meal, reflecting a kitchen and front of house that deeply cares about the dining experience. The carciofo alla giudia, a crispy Roman-style artichoke, delivers a delightful crunch and robust flavor that lingers long after.
Ending on a high note, the tiramisù here is a classic finish—silky, balanced, and utterly satisfying. Beyond the food, it’s the professionalism and warmth of the team, especially the attentive service of hosts like Enzo, that elevate Hostaria Romana from a restaurant to a cherished memory. Fair prices, quality ingredients, and genuine Roman charm make this a must-visit for anyone seeking the true taste and spirit of Rome.
